when smoking or not... i like to listen Cafe del Mar. Very relaxing....

Noice.

I like mellow trip hop, light trance, light hip hop (sometimes).

Typically no hard house or psycho thrash nut job stuff.

Portishead (bit more "sad"), Massive Attack, light Drum n bass, etc.

Something Chill. Very Soft.

Nothing pisses me off more than going to a lounge and having to yell to the person sitting directly next to me.

Some of the musicians I've listened to while chilling in the backyard smoking some hookah are:
(Linked my favorite track by them if people wanted a sample of what they sound like)

- Si*Se
- Dengue Fever
- Esthero
- Moby
- Telepopmusik
- Hybrid
- Planet Funk

DJ Mixes I favor are:

- Northern Exposure II: East Coast (John Digweed and Sasha)
- Global Underground: Arrivals
- Of Epic Proportions (Jason Dunne)
- Armin Van Buuren (CDs and/or podcasts)
- Above & Beyond (I love their podcasts)
- Most mixes by Ferry Corsten (I like his late 90s/early 2000 mixes the most)
- Sonnydeejay (I favored thhe Vocal Sessions podcasts at first but the Superstring ones are pretty good too)

Misc or soundtracks I like are:

- Just about any of the Samurai Champloo ones
- Stand up comedy (It's kind of a challenge to see if we can resist laughing while taking a hit, lol)

Maybe I am just old, but if I want Techno I will go to a dance club, if I want relaxing I go to a hookah bar.

Also, there is a special level of hell for the Hookah Lounges that bring in DJ's.

really ya'll hate live dj sets at hookah lounges?

my favorite bar does it and I absolutely love it...but they also sell alchohol and do live music all the time so I guess its not really a 'lounge' lol

LOUD ass music isn't condusive to hookah: sociably hanging out. One local hookah loung here rips off people, plays insanely loud local bands (which, rasta / marley stuff isn't bad) and sells "premium" starbuzz for $15 a bowl.

Whats good about it? hundreds of gorgeous gals.

Yes! I hate it when Hookah Lounges bring Dj's. Most of the time I wont like what they are playing and they are loud as a mofo and cant talk to any of my friends.

I either like listening to traditional/middle eastern music or instrumental music. This is for lounge purposes.

I cant lie.. I love listening to deftones when I smoke too.. That is when I am home and private. Edited by newjacksm
